Mercedes-Benz has announced a recall of approximately 4, 871 sedans and SUVs due to a possible oil leak.
Which Mercedes-Benz models are affected by the recall?
Model year 2014-2015 E250 BlueTec and E250 BlueTec 4Matic, GLK250 4Matic Blue Tec SUVs and 2015 ML250 4Matic BlueTec SUVs. All manufactured from February 28, 2014 to November 10, 2014.
What causes the possible oil leak?
The oil may leak from around the chain tensioner gasket because of a faulty gasket seal. This leaking could trigger a fire or a stalled engine, which could increase a risk of a crash.
Are there any known accidents attributed to the defect?
At this time, no known accidents have been reported by Mercedes-Benz attributing to the defect.
What do I do if my car is one of those affected?
Mercedes-Benz will be notifying all owners affected by the recall on December 26, 2014, and will replace the chain tensioner gasket free of charge.
