Best experience ever with an independent Mercedes specialist. I have had my old MB for 18 years and had a fantastic mechanic near Salem who retired and closed his shop in 2007. Since then I have been trying various options (dealerships in Salem and Eugene, independent MB "experts" in Corvallis and Eugene) bit nothing compared to my old mechanic (Kees). However, a friend recommended Burback to me and I decided to make the effort of driving all the way to Portland to get my car fixed. There was nothing very serious with my car, rather several very annoying things that did not work well and that other mechanics had been trying and failing to fix over the last 2 years. I took the car to burback and left it there for 4 days. Mike and Ryan did an evaluation and dicussed over the phone the different options and costs. They were always very clear explaining things, logical in the working strategy they were proposing (fix this first, then that next, if this does nor work....then we will do that, etc.) and very upfront about costs. They also seem to have my monetary interests (not theirs) in mind. Long story short, they did what we had agreed upon and the car runs like a dream again. The air conditioning is working again (and without having to replace the compressor as other mechanics told me I had to do), all the vacuum elements (actuators) that control the locks, gear shifting, climate control, etc. in this car work again as they should and, then, a number of minor details were successfully addressed. When I returned to pick the car, Mike took all the time necessary out of his long day in explaining everything that was done and what I had to watch for in the future (a master lecture). Besides that, his wife Pam, was one of the most corteous and pleasant front office staff I have deal with among the many mechanic shops I have visited since I moved to Oregon 15 years ago. I would give a "5 star" rating to this repair shop. Burback has gained another long time client with me.
