To accomplish this goal, we've made a commitment to providing superior customer service. This starts with the two most important qualities every customer desires in an automotive repair shop: Honesty and Integrity.

Our full-service auto repair facility has the tools and equipment to provide a broad range of repair services including repairs to engines, brakes and electrical systems. We also offer expanded repair service in other areas, such as suspension and heating/air conditioning.

Our Mission Statement:

We will never sell or repair anything on your car that you don't need. We stand behind our work. If we replace or repair it, we guarantee it, both parts and labor, for an unprecedented thirty months or 30,000 miles, whichever comes first.

We will always go the extra step when it comes to taking care of you and your automobile.

Meet Our Owner

  • John O'Connor

    Owner

    John O'Connor is the owner of Shade Tree Garage and opened its doors in December of 1975. When he was younger, he loved to take cars apart. When the shop opened, John became an ASE-certified Master Technician. He has been a Bosch-approved service center since 1989, and is also a member of The Repair Excellence Council (2001). He participates in the Elite Group, which is a peer review process that helps automotive repair shops stay on the leading edge of business and industry issues. John is also a member of the Morristown Chapter of Business Network International, the Morris County Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber's Business Development Committee. Finally, he is a member of the Mechanic's Education Association as well as the BMW, Porsche and Volvo Car Clubs of New Jersey.

    I had a check engine light come on this morning before my flight to Florida. The car was vibrating. I called the local Mercedes dealer/service department to see if I could be a walk in. I was told they could not see me before next week. I called Shade Tree Garage and spoke with their staff. I explained the issue and was told to bring car in so they could scan it to determine issue. I took it in a couple of hours ago and was greeted with the best reception and help. I left car and walked to store and was back in 10 minutes. My car was waiting for me upon return. All scans done and explicit information on the findings which dint prevent me from driving thereafter. The manager mentioned that my tires didn’t have caps on the stems and he put new ones on for me. Mind you I recently bought 4 new tires at another Mercedes dealership in NJ and that wasn’t even done. As a new resident of Morristownship, it was a relief to find this automotive shop. I will be going there from now on for services outside of manufactures recall. Lastly, the car bays are immaculate and the service technicians are engaging and not aloof. The last time I experienced this level of service was at the Palm Beach garage in West Palm Beach.
