Mercedes-Benz R Class SRS Restraint Problems

German auto giant, Mercedes-Benz has been producing its R Class line of luxury multi-purpose vehicles for almost a decade. The R Class is the first full-sized MVP produced by the company and it has been quite popular with Benz drivers. However, this isn't to say that problems don't arise from time to time that need to be brought to the attention of a trained mechanic.

One issue that some owners of the Benz R Class have encountered is a problem with the SRS (Supplemental Restraint System). The SRS is the vehicle's safety restraint system which controls the airbags and the seatbelt tensioners. If the warning indicator light is on, that means the unit is detecting a problem. Some Benz owners suspect that the light may come on even when there is not a problem with the SRS. A good way to find out if there is in fact a problem with the safety system, as opposed to an electrical problem that is giving a false warning, is to have it tested.

A certified Mercedes repair center can diagnose the vehicle for you using their Star Diagnostics system. They can run a few diagnostic tests to see if there is an issue with the wiring of the SRS or perhaps the battery has been run down and needs to be reset.

If you are experiencing SRS restraint problems with your Mercedes-Benz R Class, it is strongly recommended that you take your vehicle to an independent Mercedes-Benz repair specialist for a diagnosis and repair estimate.

Search for a local, independent Mercedes-Benz repair shop with Mercedes-Benz mechanics that have dealer-level expertise at a fraction of the expense.
