Had a very poor experience with Richard and would not recommend this shop to anyone! Three main points:
First I was contacted by Richard and he quoted me a price, which was a little expensive for me. I ask if they could do any better on the price. He told me would get back with me later that day. It was the next morning that I heard back from him, and he told me after speaking with his manager that was the best they could do. He explained to me that they normally sell this part for more money, and the only way they could reduce the price would be to cut the labor down. So I agreed to the price with the understanding that this was the best deal.
Later that day I was contacted by the shop and told my vehicle would be ready at 3pm. I confirmed the total over the phone, but was alarmed when the price had went up. I corrected the person on the phone, only to hear Richard in the back ground telling me the price he quoted didn’t include tax. After arriving at the shop I ask to speak with a manager. Unfortunately he was not unavailable, so I ended up having a very uncomfortable conversation with Richard in regards to my dissatisfaction with my experience, which ended with the taxes not being added to the price I agreed/quoted to over the phone.
Secondly I feel Richard did not called me in a timely manor, nor treat me with respect. When I first spoke with Richard I explained that the rear suspension was dropping sporadically, and I was there to have the issue resolved. Now this could mean a number of things and given air suspensions take time to diagnose, I expected it might take some time.
I was surprised when I received a call from Richard telling me that the rear hadn’t dropped and if I wanted I could pick up the car and just pay the diagnostic fee. Ok I was already aware that the suspension sporadically would drop! So I explained to Richard that I felt it would be foolish to bring the car home without fixing the issue. Meaning if I took the car home and it dropped and wouldn’t raise I would then have to tow the vehicle to the shop and that just didn’t make since to me.
Finally I spoke with Tom the owner, now he seems like a very nice man, however I explained to him that I felt deceived/lies to by Richard. After the billing issue, I don’t know, just didn’t feel like things weren’t honest. So I called Arnott the company that makes the part that they used on my car. Only to find out the price I paid was 71% more than what the maker charges. Now this is where my biggest issue comes into play. So when I ask Richard about lowering the price he told he that they normally charge over 500 dollars for this part and I was getting it at cost, which was 325, but Arnotts price is 187.80?
So basically they do a 300% mark up on their parts, and a 71% mark up is a great deal. Not so sure about that.. you can be the judge yourself, I just wanted other potential customers to know the truth about their pricing. I felt like I was dealing with a used car salesman, lots of lying!
