6th Generation Mercedes-Benz SL Class Window Trim Falling Off

The German car maker, Mercedes-Benz, is known throughout the world for their high class luxury sedans. Their popular Mercedes-Benz SL Class has been in production since it was first rolled out in the mid 1950s and is now in the sixth generation with the R231. As beloved as these vehicles are with by their owners, from time to time, repair issues to pop up that need to be addressed.

One issue that has been experienced by a few owners of the Mercedes-Benz SL Class, has been with the trim around the car's windows. Some owners have noticed that this trim is coming loose in place and is falling off. It would appear as if the adhesive that was designed to hold the trim in place has lost its stickiness. This is a frustrating problem as this situation has occurred on vehicles that are fairly new. This is certainly a vexing issue no matter how old the car is and it needs to be addressed.

The failure of this trim to stay adhered to the doors around the windows can be problematic for Mercedes owners, as this breach may allow rain water to seep into the interior of the vehicle itself. The door and window should close tightly in order to form a seal that would prevent this from occurring.

While this should be a fairly easy and inexpensive problem to fix, it is highly recommended that if you are the owner of a Mercedes-Benz SL Class and are experiencing this problem, you should take you car in to a German auto maintenance mechanic for a diagnosis and repair estimate.

Search for a local, independent Mercedes-Benz repair shop with Mercedes-Benz mechanics that have dealer-level expertise at a fraction of the expense.
