2nd Generation Mercedes-Benz E Class Parktronic Display Sensor Malfunction

Mercedes-Benz is one of the "Big Three" in the German automotive industry. As such, it is a leader in the world for luxury sedans. As popular as these vehicles are with car buyers, especially the E-Class W211 models, they do experience problems that require the care of a professional automotive expert, such as a malfunction with their Parktronic display.

The Parktronic system is comprised of many sensors that help a vehicle and the driver detect objects when they are parking. Some W211 Mercedes-Benz owners have complained that their Parktronic parking sensors work only intermittently and sometimes not at all. This has led to some fender-benders, and small scratches and cosmetic damage to the vehicles. This problem occurs in newer models, but happens more frequently as the car ages.

The type of malfunctions and symptoms described often vary. Some owners complain that the system is emitting a continuous buzzing sound, or a prolonged droning. Others have said that the sensor lights aren't displaying correctly and sometimes don’t even light up.

In some cases, a simple resetting of the system can fix this problem. In instances where the factory-fitted system fails completely, it may need to be replaced. First take it to an independent Mercedes repair shop and have them reset the computer. If after that, if the problem persists you can start troubleshooting other issues with the W211's Parktronic display sensor. For the best repairs, take your Benz into a nearby German import technician for an evaluation and an estimate of the repair costs. They will have the know-how to repair it properly.

Search for a local, independent Mercedes-Benz repair shop with Mercedes-Benz mechanics that have dealer-level expertise at a fraction of the expense.
