1986 Westfalia. 212682 kms. Blown torque converter seal, mid-trip. (It was incorrectly diagnosed as a blown rear engine seal by another shop farther up the road.) Found Automeister II by talking with a local while buying ATF. Showed up at their door 8 AM. They took care of everything - arranged a tow, arranged a rental car, sent the transmission to a local shop for rebuild, had me going again in 6 days. The tech and the principals seemed knowledgeable. They were certainly caring and mindful of my situation, being in the middle of a long trip. The repair wasn't inexpensive but I feel it was done right. And it's warranted by ATRA for 2 yrs./40,000 kms. They found a couple of other minor items unrelated to the transmission problem - fixed them as well. Good folks. I'd ask them to do my routine maintenance if I didn't live 1100 kms away.
