Stephen's Service Center
We recently had a new customer with a 2002 SLK stop in and tell us he has gone to the dealer 8 times for a "Check Engine" light. Each time they told him it was the gas cap and charged him $150 to turn off the light. When we saw the car for the ninth "Check Engine" light, we checked the fault codes and found the car had a problem with oil going into the wiring harness. There was a least $2500 in damage. There was a Service Bulletin about the problem and it was one that Mercedes-Benz would pay for the repair. We sent him back to the dealer to get it fixed for free. They told him it wasn't something that was fixed for free. We gave the customer a copy of the bulletin and then they fixed it for free. We didn't charge him anything. It's called "scruples".
